STYLEOPIA was established by Paula Rapley-Smith in 2004, who has been creating international residential architectural interiors for more than 30 years.
design process
We design homes from the inside out, putting the client’s needs and desires at the heart of the design process - shaping the internal spaces to match their lifestyle. Our Architecture and Interior Design are intertwined so that they become seamless and at one.
Styleopia Interior Architecture combines a number of disciplines, from architecture and interior design, through to a decorative and very personal layer.
Our Co-Constructive Design Process will be your first step, as we help you write your own brief whilst considering your budget - we create and visualize your end project. We make time to understand in meticulous detail how you live, and what you take pleasure in, as this informs the internal planning - orientation, access views, the relationship to your landscaping and adjacent buildings. All contribute to a balanced and elegantly resolved design, internally and externally.
Styleopia design can be applied to projects large or small, refurbishment through to new build, and we will address your: spatial planning, lighting design, joinery, bathroom design, architectural finishes layouts, decorative finishes, furniture, antiques, artwork, fittings and accessories. If a planning and building control application are required on your project, a Styleopia package will allow you to confidently brief an architect for your submission.
In short Styleopia offer a thorough understanding of the design process, as only well resolved interiors will look effortless.
design direction
“Paula has helped us with many projects over the years, initially helping us reorganise our art collection. Since then she has showed incredible patience and support whilst we planned and replanned a series of extensions and renovations to our home, contributing valuable ideas such as phasing the work to enable us to stay at home thus preventing the inevitable costs associated with moving out.
Encouraging us to rethink the space in order that the interiors and garden terrace flow correctly, Paula inspired us to spend time planning precisely how each room will look (style, millwork, lighting, furniture etc.) and even planning the storage in finite detail to ensure it meets our exact requirements and everything has a place.
Paula has also played a critical part in advising on the stages of build from working with the architect, structural engineer, quantity surveyor, builders, electricians, plumbers and decorators. Her assistance has removed considerable stress and cost from the project.
Thank you!

“Paula brought so many different areas of expertise and skills to our project.
She understands all the technical parts of a build, so was invaluable in explaining any issues that arose with the builder: helping me to visualise the solutions. She has such attention to detail and was able to provide detailed design and lighting plans, so that our new spaces really worked for us as a family and met our brief. She is very calm and professional to work with; we could not have done it without her there from the very beginning of the concept to completion of the project - highly recommend.”
